Incorporating a wedding theme simplifies the wedding planning process by automatically narrowing down a bride's choices.
A popular wedding trend is to plan the event around a theme. A theme simplifies the wedding planning process and guides the bride in choosing flowers, colors, bridesmaid dresses, decorations, food, favors, and choice of venue. Wedding Theme IdeasThe possibilities are truly endless. To get the list started, a few ideas are to base the wedding theme around a color, season, or era. Any idea that unifies the look of a wedding and reception qualifies as a wedding theme.
Incorporating a Wedding ThemeThe chosen wedding theme should be considered in all choices, but used judiciously. Each component of the wedding offers an opportunity to incorporate the theme. There is no need to go on theme overload, but a nice sprinkling of the wedding theme throughout will make a cohesive whole. Consider these ideas: Flowers – The theme dictates flower choice and colors. For example, sunflowers could be used in a country theme; roses would be more appropriate for a Victorian theme. Bridesmaid Dresses – The theme influences style, length, and color. Tea length bridesmaid dresses work well for a morning tea theme; silver dresses with blue belts make sense for a Tiffany blue themed wedding. Decorations – This is the area with the most impact. Decorations can pull the theme together if the colors and type of decorations are chosen carefully. The theme can extend to the table centerpieces, entryway and chair decorations, pew & altar decorations (if in a church), and even overhead. To create a glamorous look, billowing pieces of silk fabric could drop from a chandelier in a banquet hall and drape overhead across the room then down the walls. For a fall theme, autumn-colored leaves could serve as inspirations for the table centerpieces. Food – Yet another way to incorporate the wedding theme is in the type of food served. The drink choices at a summer-themed wedding might be iced tea or refreshing sangria. Finger foods, cookies, and of course, hot tea, would be perfect for a morning tea theme. Favors – Because wedding favors are typically customized, they offer an easy way to bring in a wedding theme. For a Tiffany-themed wedding, the favors might be silver boxes filled with candy and wrapped with a Tiffany blue silk ribbon or bow. Themed weddings require up-front planning, but possibly save time in the end by simplifying and narrowing down the choices for all aspects of the wedding.
