Having a wedding photographer's checklist is beneficial so that surprises during the occasion can be easily handled.

Whether you have photographed two weddings or two hundred, being prepared ahead of time and during the big event, is crucial. Having a wedding photographer’s checklist is beneficial so that surprises during the occasion can be easily handled. Being prepared will help reduce stress and anxiety so the photographer can capture the best photographs possible.

Know the Camera and Equipment

Knowing the equipment inside and out is critical. When buying a new camera or new camera equipment, thoroughly test every piece. Make sure new features and functionality are completely understood before heading to the next big photography event.

Wedding photography is unique and requires nothing less than perfection from the wedding photographer. Take into account equipment failures, batteries, and different light sources. Having a second or even third camera with you, will be useful should something unexpectedly happen to the first camera.

Professional wedding photography requires many different shots and perspectives. Have the second camera pre-equipped with a different lens so pictures can quickly be captured from any distance. This will ensure quick transitions and complete preparedness. Being ready to capture images both long and short range will increase the chances of capturing every special moment.

Proper Planning for the Wedding Day

Talk to the bride and groom before the weeding. Create a list of the shots the couple wants beforehand. This meeting presents a good opportunity to understand the size of the wedding and the bridal party. Knowing the shots desired by the couple and the family members is good information to gather ahead of time.

A wedding photo coordinator can really help plan and assist during the wedding. The photo coordinator can help place family members in the right places while the photographer is ensuring the pictures are perfect. A wedding photo coordinator can pay close attention to details while shuffling around 30 family members for the traditional wedding photographs.

Other Considerations for Wedding Photography

If the bride and groom can afford the extra cost, a second photograph shooter is a good idea. Having a second shooter will ensure that no special moments during the wedding day are missed. Consider having both a male and female photographer so pictures can be captured while the bride and groom prepare for their very special day. Two photographers will also provide two different perspectives on the wedding day.

Visit the site of the wedding ahead of time. Familiarity with the wedding site will be a huge advantage. When visiting the site, imagine the wedding guests filling the venue and where everyone might be. Find locations where pictures can be captured and the photographer can remain out of the way as well. Take notes as ideas come to mind and refer to the notes on the day of the wedding.

When it comes to wedding photography, every detail counts. This is a once in a lifetime event for the bride and groom and every picture should be cherished and bring back special memories. Each picture is important. Wedding photographs should capture the event in a way that will re-create the day for the bride and groom and allow the couple to recall some very special memories.
