Several new looks are becoming popular for brides who will be shopping in 2010.
Sequins, lace, feathers and bows. Most little girls spend at least part of their childhood dreaming about their wedding dress even before they have a groom in mind. For brides who plan on dress and accessory shopping in 2010, here are several trends to watch. Silhouette: Sleek vs. TraditionalThere seemed to be two types of dresses dominating the runaway this season: big, billowly ballrooms that are the very heart of traditional weddings, or sleek, sexy, body-hugging dresses that show off fantastic figures. However, today's ball gowns are not limited to boring skirts of plain white. For a playful look, chose a skirt made of tulle, or pick a dress that has layers of material cascading to the floor. Or, for a more interesting look, chose a dress with a ball gown skirt that is tucked and arranged in an unusal way, almost like the skirt is a fluffy cake topping. in 2009, the goddess gown, with it's asymmetrical neckline, one shoulder strap and softly flowing skirt, was huge. While these dresses continue to stay popular, designers also nipped waists in to create sleek, slender dresses. Wow guests with an hourglass figure in one of these beautiful dresses. Hats Instead of VeilsAfter the dress, many brides-to-be dream of their veil, which cascades from perfect hair and is the perfect topper to the perfect dress. However, many modern brides are rejecting the idea of a veil at all, or at least trimming their veil to a minimal look and topping off their look with a hat. While it may sound strange, a lovely hat, dressed with a small face veil, fresh flowers or even a curling feather can be the best addition to a sophisticated wedding look. EmbellishmentsOften, many brides feel their dress is not complete with beads, feathers, ruffles or bows. And 2010 is no exception. However, designers have moved beyond beaded bodices. Look for huge bows and beaded belts to compliment waists, or look for ruffles adding interest to a gown. Ruching, which is a sewing technique that gathers fabric in a repeated pattern, not only makes a dress beautiful but can also be very flattering on larger figures. The '50s Are Back! This season, designers are going back to the 1950s for inspiration. This means there has been playing with hemlines, giving brides the option of tea length dress which fall slightly below the knee, or even dresses that fall to a few inches above the knee. Belted waists and sheer overskirt are also very popular. Colors GaloreIn 2009, designers started adding color to some of their gowns, allowing brides to look beyond classic white, ivory or champange. Now, whole wedding dresses are available in red, pink, taupe, even black. For a bride that loves the color idea but wants to stay on the traditional side, look to add color in the form of a belt, or with a colored embroidery thread, or with a small section of colored fabric at the top of the bodice or around the bottom of the gown. As an added bonus, match attendents' gowns, ascots, or even decorations to the color in the gown. Obviously, chosing a bridal gown is a big choice for a bride. No matter what trends are happening, a bride should feel like the most beautiful person in the world in her dress on her wedding day.
