Whether you're hosting a small or large group, these fun bridal shower games are sure to be crowd-pleasers.

Ice-breaker Games

Some guests may feel out of place attending a shower, particularly if they’ve just recently met the bride or are a co-worker and don’t know any of the bride’s friends. These ice-breaker games will help your guests feel at ease with each other.

How You Met the Bride

  • Ask each guest to bring a small, inexpensive item that represents how she met the bride. For example, if they met on the school playground, the guest could bring a skipping rope. Ask each guest to place the item into a large vase at the door. Once everyone has arrived, have the bride choose one item at a time, guessing which of her guests brought the item – and why. By the end, the bride will have told a personal story about each guest – and how all of their lives are intertwined.

Potluck Surprise

  • For a kitchen-themed shower, ask each guest to bring a dish that represents an aspect of her relationship with the bride. For example, if they met in grade school, the guest could bring miniature peanut butter-and-jelly tea sandwiches. Or, if the guest is a relative, she could make a family specialty they ate together at holiday gatherings. To personalize the gift, have each guest bring the entrée in a serving dish that the bride can keep – this could be anything from a salad in a salad spinner to Swedish meatballs in a crock pot or cookies on a baking sheet.

Something Blue

  • Since the "something blue" is often a difficult item for the bride to think of for her wedding day, get guests to help her brainstorm! Ask each guest to bring one wedding day item that's blue. These can be fun items – anything from blue nailpolish to a bag of blue jelly beans. Have each guest put her item into large bowl or bag when she arrives. For the game, have guests sit in a circle with their eyes closed. Pass each item around, one by one, and have guests try to guess what the "blue" item is, and write it down on a piece of paper. The guest who guessed the most blue items right wins a prize. Then, the bride can either keep all the blue items, or they can be distributed among the guests.

Gift-Opening Games

At larger showers, gift-opening can be a long and sometimes tedious event for guests. To keep guests interested, try one of these interactive games that will get your guests involved!

Gift Bingo

  • Distribute blank Bingo cards (you can create them by drawing 5 columns by 5 rows on blank paper). Have each guest write in items that she thinks the bride may receive (towels, spatula, shower curtain). When the bride opens a gift that’s on the guests' cards, they cross it out. When they’ve crossed out an entire row – either horizontally, vertically or diagonally – they win a prize! You'll be surprised how excited guests will be for the bride to open the next gift!

20 Questions

  • A week or so before the shower, send a list of questions to the groom that he must answer honestly. Then, write each question and answer on a slip of paper and put all the slips of paper in a bowl. When the bride opens a guest’s gift, that guest gets to ask a question. If the bride gets the question right, she opens the gift. If she gets it wrong, she has to put a piece of bubble gum in her mouth before she opens the gift. The more questions she gets wrong, the more gum she has to chew! Here are some sample questions to get you started:

1. Who said "I love you" first?

2. What one CD does the groom own that he’d be mortified if the bride told all her friends?

3. What is the bride's favourite food?

4. Where was the bride and groom's first kiss?

5. If the groom were a superhero, who would he say he'd be?
