Many couples decide to give their out-of-town guests gift baskets to make them feel more comfortable and show appreciation.

Planning a gift basket for out-of-town wedding guests is a nice gesture for guests that have traveled to be present for the couple’s wedding day. Read this article to get an idea of items to include in a summer gift basket.

The Basics of Wedding Gift Baskets

If the wedding is a destination wedding, taking place outdoors, or happening at the beach, couples should consider including sunscreen, bug spray, and a beach towel in their gift baskets. This will help the wedding guests be more comfortable during their stay, and they will appreciate the necessary items that they would have to purchase otherwise.

Including some basic first aid items is thoughtful. Think about including Band-Aids, sting and bite treatment, and an antiseptic. Also, put a pack of tissues in the guest basket if you think your ceremony will be a tear-jerker.

Local Recommendations for Wedding Guests

A great way to make wedding guests feel more at home is to share a list of places that the couple recommends to check out such as restaurants and tourist attractions. Include a map of the area that pinpoints these places to make it easy for the guests to find them. Out of town wedding guests usually have extra time during the weekend and need suggestions for place to eat.

Extra Items for Wedding Gift Baskets

There are many other great items that couples can include in their summer wedding gift baskets. Here is a list of more summer items that couples can consider including:

  • A couple bottles of water. Make the water bottles more unique by taking off the water bottle label and put on a homemade label that includes the wedding logo or wedding date with the names of the couple.
  • Beach ball. If the guests are staying at a hotel that has a swimming pool or near a beach, this is a cute item to include.
  • Snacks. Think about putting some granola bars, cookies, fresh fruit or snack-size bags of chips in the guest basket in case the guests need something to nibble on in between wedding activities.
  • Lemonade mix. Couples can buy this in bulk and place it in individualized containers or packets bought from the local dollar store.
  • Seashells. Add a couple of these for decoration.
  • Lotion. Include scented lotion for guests to apply after they’ve been out in the sun for most of the day.
  • Frisbee. Wedding guests can enjoy the beach or outdoors in between wedding events with a fun toy.

Giving out of town wedding guests gift baskets isn’t required, but it’s a nice way to show them that they’re appreciated. Make guests more comfortable with a considerate summer gift basket.
