A big part of a wedding budget is getting the bride and groom dressed. Even after sticker shock, the dress and tuxedo doesn't have to take up the entire budget.

All weddings require some kind of special clothing. Whether the bride has chosen the traditional white gown route or the groom is wearing a brightly-colored suit and Converse sneakers, clothing can be one of the biggest parts of the wedding budget.

Before going shopping, know your preferences. Not only will it save time, but it will also eliminate impulse purchases that can add up quickly.

For the Bride

During certain times of the year, bridal stores such as David's Bridal will have sales and discount dresses, sometimes for as little as $100. If there is enough time before the wedding that a bride can wait on a sale, consider checking out birdal sales.

If going the traditional bridal shop route is not the bride's style, then try consignment shops, second hand stores, and vintage shops. Not only does this provide a bride with options that may be more of her style, but can also be a cost saver as dresses as these stores are often less expensive than bridal shops.

If a bride can sew or knows someone who sews, consider making the wedding dress or asking for help in having it made. This way, a bride gets exactly what she wants and has an extra special dress that has been made personally for her, at only a fraction of the cost of going through a bridal store.

For the GroomUnless a groom wears a tuxedo regularly basis, it would be more cost-effective to rent tuxes for the groom and groomsmen than to buyg them. Renting only costs a fraction of the cost of purchasing a tuxedo and the stress of keeping it clean and storing it when not in use is gone.

Tuxedo rental retailers such as Men's Wearhouse offer specials about renting tuxedos in groups. Renting more than one outfit at once, while may sound expensive at first, can be more cost effective by paying less for each outfit than buying individually.

For EveryoneCheck out bridal shows, bridal shops, and local wedding guides to look for specials and other events that are meant for those planning weddings. Not only will these give the couple a chance to meet others who are also planning weddings, but they may also provide ways to save money when planning other parts of the wedding.

Getting everyone dressed for the wedding doesn't have to take the entire budget. There are plenty of ways to look great on the wedding day without breaking the bank or buying clothing that the bride or groom doesn't need or isn't completely happy with.
