Setting a wedding budget is the easy part; sticking to it can prove somewhat harder. Fortunately, there are dozens of ways that brides can cut costs on there wedding day.

Planning a Wedding on a Budget: Cheap Wedding Ideas Without the Sacrifices revealed that trimming the wedding guest list and out-smarting expensive stationeryare two great ways to get a start cutting a costs on a low budget wedding. This article looks at six more techniques to help keep the wedding cheque-book in the black.

DIY Wedding Bouquets

Flowers can put a massive dent in a wedding budget, especially if the centrepieces are floral arrangements as well as the bouquets.

Consider buying flowers direct from the growers' market a few days before the wedding and putting the arrangements together at home. Savings will be made on the florists' artistry costs and the middle man will disappear.

Wedding Dress on a Budget

A wedding dress is something that will only ever be worn once, so why spend a fortune on it?

Ask a friend or relative to custom make one, buy second hand or check out the amazing dresses on ebay that can be made to fit. If you're having a less formal beach or outdoor wedding, you may be able to pick up something appropriate from a local boutique or chain store.

Money Saving Table Decorations

When it comes to cutting costs on table decor, non-floral centrepieces are definitely worth considering.Such centrepieces may include candles, birdcages, books or anything with sentimental value to the bride and groom.

Cut Costs on Wedding Favours

Wedding favours or bonbonniere are often the first thing to be struck from the list when it comes to planning a wedding on a budget, but they don't need to be. Edible bonbonniere can be a cheap alternative to the candles or key chains that are being given to guests and can often be picked up from the supermarket and turned into a mini masterpiece.

Save on the Reception DinnerA three-course meal plus canapés and an open bar is often out of the price-range for many people planning a wedding on a budget.

If you're having canapés and cake, make them work overtime and double as the first course and dessert. If you're wedding is a bit more intimate, book a restaurant rather than a fiunction centre and you could halve your costs.

To cut costs on beverages you could ask your guests to pay for their own, limit free drinks to two per person or have a happy-hour when drinks are on you.

Affordable Photography

To save money on a wedding photographer, ask your guests to do one-hour shifts, place disposable cameras on every table and ask guests to leave them for you at the end of the night or hire a student photographer at a reduced rate. Chances are the student will be more creative and enthusiastic than somebody who takes wedding photos for a living.

By thinking creatively about how you can save on wedding costs you are more likely to produce a wedding that is personal and unique.

There are endless ways to stick to your wedding budget and chances are that your guests won't even notice that you've cut corners.
