In 2008, there were 95,170 marriage licenses issued in Clark county; although figures have dropped since 2007, when 108, 963 marriage licenses were issued, getting married in Las Vegas still appears to be a popular choice with many wedding couples. Many celebrities have glamorized Las Vegas with celebrity weddings over the years, making some locations more popular than others to get married in Las Vegas.

Where to Obtain a Las Vegas Wedding License

Everyone who marries in Las Vegas needs to obtain a marriage license; marriage licenses are available in Las Vegas at the Marriage License Bureau, situated at 201 East Clark Avenue. The office is open from 8 am to 12 midnight every day, including holidays, for the issue of a wedding license.

However the office is only open for actual marriage ceremonies between 8 am to 10 pm every day (including holidays). It is now also possible to obtain a Las Vegas marriage license on line. The current cost of a marriage license in Las Vegas is US$55, payable in cash only.

Documents Needed to Obtain a Las Vegas Marriage License

Since January 1 2008, each person who applies for a Las Vegas marriage license needs to provide proof of identification such as a driver's license, passport, certificate of citizenship, resident card or military identification card; Clark County Marriage Bureau in Las Vegas is able to provide a full list of acceptable forms of identification.

Other documents and information needed to obtain a marriage license in Las Vegas include social security number, proof of age and, if aged under 18 years, parental consent. If divorced, the city, state and date of divorce needs to be provided. Without the required documents and information, it may not be possible to be issued with a Las Vegas marriage license.

Wedding Packages in Las Vegas

There are many wedding packages and locations to choose from in Las Vegas; it is possible to have an Egyptian wedding, a Camelot wedding, a pirate wedding or an Elvis wedding! There are many costumed characters to choose from and some wedding packages include theatrical effects too. The majority of Las Vegas wedding packages will include a limousine service, wedding flowers, photographer, video services and chapel fees; a Las Vegas wedding planner will be able to arrange a complete wedding package.

The Chapel of the Flowers

For a romantic, less glitzy Las Vegas affair, choose the Chapel of the Flowers in Las Vegas; the Chapel of the Flowers consists of three chapels, a gazebo and gardens in which to get married:

  • The Victorian Chapel

  • The Gardens.

For 14 of the last 15 years, the Little Church of the West has been voted the best wedding chapel in Las Vegas and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
