City-loving couples will be enchanted by these five trendsetting boutique hotels that will satisfy every whimsy from design to service.

For the young, hip, or artistic couple who love city life and want to spend their honeymoon in a major U.S. metropolitan area, the following urban hotels will cater to their style with luxury and charm without putting a huge dent in the pocketbook.

Hotel Allegro - Chicago, Illinois

Playing with bright colors, geometric patterns and flowing curvilinear forms to evoke a fun, modern Art Deco era, Hotel Allegro belongs to the Kimpton Hotel Group, which is known for their slew of boutique hotels that are each tastefully trendy and unique. Centered at a prime location, the hotel is near trains, cultural landmarks, shopping, entertainment and music, making it easy to get around the city.

For the honeymoon couple, choose a suite with a Jacuzzi for two and take advantage of the in-room spa services that feature massage, body, facial, or hand and foot treatments using organic products. Organic Lifestyle magazine named Hotel Allegro as a top green hotel in their August 2008 issue.

Average cost: $225.

Hotel Triton - San Francisco, California

Step inside this Kimpton hotel and you’ll be carried away to a funky Greek escape that will make your jaws drop. Whimsical and artsy, Hotel Triton was envisioned by nine San Francisco artists. And like the ever-changing art scene, the décor constantly evolves. Conveniently across from Chinatown and two blocks from Union Square, the hotel has been called “a happening and unique escape from the mundane” by Harper’s Bazaar.

Take advantage of the Celebrity Suites, such as the Black Magic Bedroom by Carlos Santana or the Haagen-Dazs “Sweet Suite” with vanilla and chocolate flavors and a custom-designed ice-cream cabinet filled with Hagen-Dazs ice-cream, bowls and spoons. With so much personality, Hotel Triton is pop culture at its best.

Average cost: $210

Viceroy Hotel – Santa Monica, California

Chic and sexy, Viceroy Hotel is part of the Kor Hotel Group that is known for its service and alluring design. Taking in European urban glam with an edge, the hotel is perfect for the hip honeymoon couple as it is near the beachfront. Be sure to take a room with an ocean view. The Cameo Bar with plush green sofas will make you feel like you’re on the set of a Vogue magazine photo shoot. Outside Traveler has called the hotel a “heavenly urban retreat.”

Average cost: $350

Gramercy Park Hotel – New York City, New York

An haute Bohemian jungle, the Gramercy Park Hotel mixes a little gothic glam with an eclectic Renaissance style that leaves guests curious to know what the next room will deliver. Walled with famous artworks including those of Jean-Michel Basquiat, the hotel is situated on New York’s only private park and is conveniently located near Union Square and SoHo.

The hotel is the vision of Ian Schrager, who has been credited for creating the "boutique hotel" class. More pricier than the others on the list due to its five-star status and belonging to the prestigious Virtuoso network, Gramercy Park Hotel may be worth it if you’re willing to splurge a little for your honeymoon. Don’t miss the striking design of the Wakiya restaurant or the experience of Jade Bar.

Average cost: $625

Mondrian South Beach – Miami Beach, Florida

The trendy Mondrian South Beach hotel just opened in the beginning of December 2008. Carrying a futuristic neoclassical style, Mondrian was designed by award-winning Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, who nicknamed the hotel “Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.” Overlooking the Biscayne Bay, the Atlantic Ocean and the Miami skyline, Mondrian will give modish honeymooners what they desire. Vogue Living called it “wildly romantic.”

Average cost: $390
