Have a Butterfly Release at Your WeddingHow to Make Your Own Cage and Where to Get Butterflies
It's becoming more and more popular to release butterflies during a wedding ceremony to symbolize a new life together. Learn how to make your own release cage.
We all know that butterflies don’t build a cocoon, the caterpillar does. But, there is a time in which butterflies need a cocoon much like what they came from. The butterfly is such a beautiful creature, and there is no more unique way then letting butterflies loose at your wedding instead of the traditional rice and birdseed. It is a way of you and your spouse remembering this special day, and having your guests remember the moment forever. Butterfly releases are becoming extremely popular at weddings, as they symbolize a new life together. If you have not heard about this elegant new tradition, you will want to read on to see how you can make your own butterfly release cage, and set them free on your wedding day. There are many release cages and even decorating boxes that you can use to release the butterfly, but the best way is to build your own. Building Your Own Butterfly Release CageBy building your own release cage, or cocoon if you will, you can tailor it to how many butterflies you have and how you want to release them. It should be breathable, loose, and be able to allow the butterflies out so that they can be free and show off their beauty at your event. Many people choose to build their own butterfly cocoon out of ready made kits that you can find online or in various exotic animal stores. If you want to take the chance and build it yourself it can be rather easy. First, start by choosing a material that allows you to see the butterflies inside but still lets them breathe while they are in there without escaping. Mesh or a variety of breathable silk is an excellent choice. You can simply buy a bird cage and then drape the material on the outside of the cage so that not only do you have a way of carrying it, but you also have a way of not letting them get out. Gently tie the material together at the bottom to make sure they don’t find an alternate way to get out. A Different Approach to Building Your Own Release CageIf you don’t want to use a bird cage you can easily make a cylinder shape with the fabric using a little creative sewing. Just keep in mind to keep one area open in order to get the butterflies in the cocoon and that you have a similar opening to let them out. A box is also an excellent idea. You can also make your own box and then decorate it with a beautiful picture of butterflies so that the guests know what is coming. Also, you can keep it secret so that it is a huge surprise as well. Finding Butterflies for the OccasionMany farms specialize in breeding butterflies for a wedding. These places will take your order online and have the butterflies delivered right to your front door. You can generally specify how many butterflies you want, and will also often times find package pricing for them as well. Once the butterflies arrive, you will want to take extra precautions to caring for them before your wedding day. Be sure to adhere to all of the instructions that come with the butterflies, and do not order them too far in advance, as there is less risk of you losing any of them before the event. Butterfly releases are extremely wonderful to have on a wedding day. Everyone, young and old, will enjoy watching the creatures float freely into the air. It is sure to be something no one at your wedding will ever forget. Make your own cage to give that day an extra special personal touch.
