A DVD wedding invitation or thank-you note is a beautiful way to share the wedding experience with family and friends.

Editor's Choice

The 21st Century has given birth to many wonderful new options for brides and grooms, and the ability to create a DVD invitation and thank-you note is one of the most endearing.

The DVD Wedding Invitation

Wedding invitations are customarily fashioned of paper with beautiful textures, patterns, styles and fonts, but nothing could be more engaging for wedding guests than to receive a living invitation with photos, video, music and artful graphics.

Brides and grooms can choose to tell the story of how their paths became entwined—from childhood to adulthood to the moment of their first kiss—or any other story they wish to share. Some elements may include:

  • childhood photos of the bride and groom
  • favorite shared events
  • engagement party photos
  • special messages
  • sneak peeks at wedding venues

Whatever the imagination can conceive, the DVD wedding invitation can immortalize.

The DVD Thank You Note

DVD thank-you notes are growing in popularity. Wedding photographs and video clips are woven into a keepsake that expresses the gratitude of the wedding couple in moving and memorable fashion. When guest photos are included, it makes the DVD uniquely delightful for friends and family who shared in the wedding day experience.

The DVD thank-you note is a memory saved for all.

How to Make a DVD Wedding Invitation or Thank You Note

There are two ways to produce a personal DVD. Wedding couples can select a professional company to create the DVD using customer-provided materials or they can choose the do-it-yourself method.

Considerations for choosing a professional company:

  • experienced and trained personnel
  • convenience and time savings
  • high quality production
  • all-inclusive materials such as the DVD, DVD case and postal mailer
  • mailing services

For those interested in striking out on their own, software programs exist that allow casual users to create DVDs on their personal computers. Most movie-making programs require a learning process, but in the end, the ability to create a DVD with a photo montage, music, video and script is possible and not overly difficult.

Reasons to choose the do-it-yourself method:

  • cost savings
  • the fun of the project
  • the ability to make frequent changes before settling on the finished product

DVD Creation Costs

Professional companies charge for each DVD copy and for the master DVD. The cost for creating the master DVD can be begin at about $100.00 and increase depending upon production length and other factors. The individual copies made from the master usually cost several dollars apiece.

Some companies offer a mailing service and will charge a service charge plus postage to mail out the invitations or thank-you notes on the wedding couple's behalf.

For invitations and thank-you notes produced at home, the cost of puchasing blank DVDs at discount or office supply stores is minimal. However, while a professional company will include a photo label for the disc, personally produced DVDs will require the printing of a photo label, and a printer with CD/DVD label printing capability will be required. In the alternative, the labels will need to be purchased from a professional printer. DVD cases and mailers will also need to be purchased.

The Joy of a DVD Wedding Invitation or Thank You Note

Whether or not to use a professional company will depend upon the wedding budget. But there can be no denying that personal DVDs are the ultimate in wedding event communication.

Invitations and thank-you notes can be as unique to a wedding as the wedding favors or reception surprises.

If a picture really is worth a thousand words, then the DVD wedding invitation or thank-you note may truly be priceless.
