For this once-in-a-lifetime event before the wedding, throw the bride an unforgettable bridal shower by using her likes to choose a creative theme.

Whether you’re her best friend or family member, you probably know the bride’s style, preferences and dislikes. If not, now would be a good time to find out. Work around her personality to create a bridal shower that she will never forget. Here are some creative bridal shower themes:

Martini Lounge Bridal Shower Theme

Decorate the space with classic vintage posters, wine bottles and candles. This setup usually looks best in the evening so that the candles have a dramatic effect. If available, place ottomans around the room and set up a high buffet table with hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Serve garnished martinis like this recipe by Martha Stewart.

Remember to use glasses instead of plastic or paper cups and small porcelain dishes instead of disposable plates. To top it off, stir up the ambiance with martini lounge music and make a mandatory dress code because it affects the atmosphere and photos.

Floral Bridal Shower Theme

Hang fake floral garlands on the ceilings to encircle a space such as the living room. Different garlands can be found in craft stores such as Michaels. They can create an intimate atmosphere that feels like an indoor garden. Set up a low circular table with cushions on the floor to sit on. Place candles and a fresh bouquet of flowers as the centerpiece. This is the occasion to bring out your tea sets and silverware.

Multicolor Bridal Shower Theme

If the bride has a fun and exuberant personality, consider a theme that plays around vibrant colors. This bridal shower theme would be ideal in the garden during springtime or summertime when flowers are in bloom. Cover tabletops with a green, red, yellow or orange tablecloth and choose colorful serveware that has a uniform style so that it doesn’t look random or disorganized. Sunflowers, daisies or a medley of peonies are excellent options for centerpiece decorations.

If you decide to use this colorful theme, food can play a big role in making a dramatic effect. Cut up a variety of fruits that include bright, popping colors including watermelons, mangos, strawberries, kiwis, berries and grapefruits. Carve out a watermelon basket from an empty shell and use it to serve the fruit. You can also get creative with pastries and colorful cakes using food coloring. When sending out invites, include a dress code that will allow guests to be part of the vibrant color scheme.

Animal Print Bridal Shower Theme

Does the bride have a wild creature she adores? Whether it’s a zebra, alligator, cow, leopard or giraffe, select her favorite animal pattern along with her favorite color to use as a base for decorations and setup. Don’t overdo the patterns and keep it as striking accents. For instance, use it either for napkins or tablecloths, but not both.

Activity/Hobby Bridal Shower Theme

Take her favorite hobby whether it’s baking, going to the spa, shopping or dancing and make the decorations revolve around it. For instance, if the bride is into baking, you can decorate the room to look like a café or kitchen with baskets of bread, aprons, whisks and other cooking utensils. You can also distribute aprons or small bags of baking mix with recipes written on them as party favors.

Let your imaginations run wild because there are no limits. But whatever bridal shower theme you choose, make it reflect the bride’s personality and she’ll be thoroughly moved by your thoughtfulness.
